Mosaic pavement necklace Rectangular pavement of black and white stones used on the temple floor. Often it is laid out like a checkerboard at the centre of the lodge. It is one of oldest masonic symbols. Gabanon's engravings show it was already present in 1745 on the lodges' carpets used at the time.
